I took part in Junction 2024 where my team created a prototype for a tinder-style recruiting application that emphasizes inclusivity, ease of use and feedback to improve the mental health of job seekers.

I attended the Solve the SDGs 2024 hackathon where we designed a platform to enhance research collaboration between students, university staff and companies. My team achieved 2nd place in Aalto University's challenge: Student-driven Sustainability Impact in Higher Education.

I worked primarily with Java and the Spring framework alongside other tools, such as MySQL, Git, GitHub, and Asana. In addition to programming, my work also involved writing JUnit tests and manual testing.

This mostly consisted of software testing, data collection, content QA and programming in Python.

I worked as a data collector and game tester. I collected data about games that would be suitable for a service called Hatch, participated in meetings regarding what games could fit the service and tested games within the service. This role gave me insight into the industry and provided me with my first experience of working at a company.

This role was in a User Interfaces and Usability course. The role primarily involved teaching students, marking assignments and helping with the course arrangements.

This was a part-time continuation of my internship. As such, I worked with the same technologies, such as Java and the Spring framework.

I was a peer tutor for first year students in the international Industrial Engineering and Management program. This involved helping the students get started in both, their study life and their life in Finland. I was assigned a group of students and I was responsible for giving them guidance and information from the university, organizing some events and answering any questions that they had about their studies. This primarily helped me to improve my social skills and practice organizing events.

This role consisted of collecting data from emails into Google Sheets. It taught me a lot about work-life balance as I had to balance it with my studies.

I am a founding member of the student guild AETHER Ry and served as a board member and host during its first term. This involved meetings for making decisions for the guild as well as planning and hosting student events. This experience greatly helped me to improve my organizational and planning skills as well as skills related to hosting events in practice, such as taking initiative and the ability to withstand pressure and manage unexpected issues.

As a leader of a group, I was involved in planning and hosting weekly sessions as well as camping trips and other activities. This experience taught me a lot about leadership and taking initiative alongside organizational and planning skills.

In the summer of 2023, I went on a study exchange to Tianjin, China. This allowed me to learn a lot about Chinese culture and the state of China through first-hand experience. Additionally, I visited the World Intelligence Congress 2023, which allowed me to see some new technologies and learn about the state of Chinese development in the field of technology. I also had the chance to visit a Chinese company that manufactures AGVs and learn about the company culture as well as the manufacturing process. Beyond the academic value, I had to push myself out of my comfort zone to get this new experience, which has greatly expanded my comfort zone and helped me to gain more confidence.
